(Newswars) A gang of burglars paid a heavy price for breaking into an apartment in Philadelphia when a female resident opened fire, sending at least two suspects to the hospital, according to reports.
The harrowing incident unfolded at around 1 a.m. on Sunday in the Germantown neighborhood of the City of Brotherly Love.
A woman arrived at her residence and found four male suspects had forced entry, authorities say.
During an ensuing confrontation, the woman drew a firearm and shot at least two of the suspects.
“When police arrived at the scene they found one of the suspects, later identified as 48-year-old Jermaine Parker, on the ground and suffering from gunshot wounds to his right leg and right arm. He was taken to the hospital for treatment,” NBC Philadelphia reports.
A short time later, officers located 45-year-old Randy Miller on a nearby street.
He had sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
The other two suspects were still on the loose as of Sunday night, according to updates.
