A Conventional Republican Will Lose
- The Iowa Bible Thumpers who voted for "winners" like Huckabee in 2008 and Santorum in 2012 are now lining up behind Open Borders lover Ted Cruz.
- Trump has the potential to cut across party lines. Cruz and the rest will go down to another defeat.
(World Net Daily) - In an interview hours before the Iowa caucuses are set to begin, Republican presidential primary front-runner Donald Trump told talk-radio host Michael Savage that while Iowa has not picked the eventual nominee in 16 years, a win would be "psychologically" important to his campaign.
Trump noted that in New Hampshire, which holds its primary Feb. 9, he has a 28-point lead in at least one poll.
"That sounds like an incumbent president running against nobody," he remarked to Savage.
Trump – who in Iowa leads by one point over Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in the latest Emerson poll and by seven points in the latest Quinnipiac – said one of the benefits of the caucus system is that it "makes you work harder."
Asked if he had ever worked so hard in his life, the real-estate billionaire said his presidential campaign "is right up there."
"This is tougher than a building in Manhattan," he said. "But it's a great process. I'm encouraged when I look at the polls."
Trump, a frequent guest on "The Savage Nation," discussed with Savage last Tuesday the backlash against migrants in Europe, noting he has called for a freeze on immigration of Muslims in the United States until a coherent and effective strategy for dealing with Islamic extremists becomes official U.S. policy.
Savage asked Trump about his advantage over other Republican candidates in attracting certain demographics, such as Hispanics, that have tended to vote for Democrats.
Trump affirmed the importance of winning over Democrats, because the Democratic Party has a "structural advantage," with more members than the Republican Party.
And he pointed out that polls show he has a chance to win states that have been virtual locks for Democrats.
"I have a chance of getting New York. I have a chance of getting Michigan. I have a chance of getting states that a lot of these people, these other (Republican) candidates, it would never be a possibility to get them," he said.
"We're going to do great in Ohio and Florida and other places," he said, naming also Virginia and West Virginia.
"Places that have not been good to the Republicans, Trump is going to win. And if that happens, you end up having a tremendous advantage," he said.
