The 2014 GOP Wave Sticks it to Obama

A GOP Wave . . . Sort of
Looking at (maybe) a 54 - 46 GOP Senate

By Gary;

At this writing the votes are still being counted so I am not going to project too much right now.

Yes there was a GOP wave. But what is amazing to me is how narrow so many of the Senate races were.

The bottom line is with all the horror in the economy, the Obama corruption and incompetence, the Democrats still managed to rack up monster percentages of the voters. The Leftists were still willing to march in lock step to the polls.

The nation is deeply split with a fairly small number of swing voters deciding the direction of the nation. Come 2016 that same narrow band of swing voters could easily put the Democrats back in control of the Senate.

I suspect the GOP will pad their majority with wins in Alaska and Louisiana bringing Republican Senate numbers up to 54.

What will the GOP do?

First, don't for one second expect that one single dime will be cut from the Federal budget by a GOP Congress.  The Republicans will play games claiming they are cutting the rate of growth of big government programs. But government will still grow.

Speaking of growth. Expect the bipartisan NSA Federalized Police State to keep growing.

The "small government" Republicans have only read the 2nd Amendment to the Bill of Rights. The party somehow forgets about our other rights under the 4th, 5th, 6th or 10th Amendments. So the Big Brother Police State will continue to spread its oppressive tentacles into every home in America.

On the positive side, I think the GOP will include countless tiny paragraphs of anti-Obama legislation inside those horrible 2,000 page bills that no one reads. Comrade Obama will be backed into a corner. Does he sign the bills or veto them?

One thing for sure, the next two years are going to be fun for Bloggers.

The 1st Time The People Said No.
From the founding of the Republic American Presidents had Congresses basically of their same party.  But by 1828 a second party system came into play with the new Democrat Party and their opposition the National Republican Party under the great Senator Henry Clay.
.
But the "Imperial President" Andrew Jackson frightened voters.  In the elections of both 1830 and 1832 the Democrats lost control of the U.S. Senate to the opposition.  The checks and balances designed by the Founders had finally kicked in.  One-Party rule was ended in America.

.
Now Obama is feeling the system designed by the Founders biting him in the ass.
