Our Jobs Are Gone Forever
- Robotics and the Internet are nuking jobs by the millions. Welcome to a "new" America where there are fewer and poorer workers supporting countless millions who will never be employed.
- Consider also that millions of taxpayers are vanishing to be replaced by a new class of Serfs dependent on their masters in government for basic food and shelter.
- This new class of American Serf will owe his fealty and vote to his big government Masters who keep refilling his EBT card and give him free cell phones.
By Gary;
My recent road trip from Southern California to Sacramento was an eye-opener.
I pull into my favorite truck stop for coffee. (They serve some damn good coffee.) But two major changes had been made since last I came in.
#1) The Dairy Queen inside the truck stop had been closed.
This one act was a crime against humanity just be itself. On the wall where the Dairy Queen had been there were a couple of spigots where you could pour your own pre-made frozen yogurt slop into a cup and then top it off with sprinkles of your choice.
Fine. Progress I guess. But then comes the checkout.
#2) Here I am with my coffee and there are no clerks to ring me up. We have self-checkout computerized scanners instead of sales clerks.
So it hit me. American jobs are vanishing into an economic black hole never to return.
This is a very busy 24 hour truck stop. It usually had two clerks ringing people up day and night. Between the vanished Dairy Queen and the checkout registers it is possible that 10 to 15 jobs may have been eliminate from just this single location.
And let me tell you folks, those jobs are not coming back.
Multiply this one experience of mine across the nation. Now add in the massive outsourcing of jobs to foreign nations. You can see why the employment numbers are bad.
The "new and improved" United States will never look at all like it did in 2000. Those days are gone. Welcome a future of EBT cards and government owned tenement housing.
Our grandchildren will gather around to hear stories of the "olden days" when a human could work in a factory, put food on the table, buy a car, buy a house and vacation in Europe.
Those were the days.
Are droids taking our jobs?
Robots and algorithms are getting good at jobs like building cars, writing articles, translating -- jobs that once required a human. So what will we humans do for work? Andrew McAfee walks through recent labor data to say: We ain't seen nothing yet. But then he steps back to look at big history, and comes up with a surprising and even thrilling view of what comes next.
American Workers Outsourcing Own Jobs Overseas
Robot Hamburger Maker Even fast food jobs are rapidly being abolished by technology. No longer will they say, “He’s going to end up flipping burgers.” Because now, robots are taking even these ignobly esteemed jobs. Alpha machine from Momentum Machines cooks up a tasty burger with all the fixins. And it does it with such quality and efficiency it’ll produce “gourmet quality burgers at fast food prices.” (singularityhub.com) |
“The Master created humans first as the lowest type, most easily formed. Gradually, he replaced them by robots, the next higher step, and finally he created me, to take the place of the last humans.” ― Isaac Asimov - I, Robot |
