1914 to 2014
Countless millions of dead bodies later and still
we have learned nothing.
By Gary;
July 28, 1914, the Austro-Hungarian Empire declared war on the Kingdom of Serbia. Here we are at the 100th Anniversary of World War One and it appears man has learned nothing.
I suspect man is incapable of learning. Perhaps we did evolve from the dreaded Killer Ape. Man certainly has endless capacity to inflict murder, torture and death to all of those around him.
The so-called "best and the brightest" ruled over Europe in 1914. But my theory has always been that the "best and brightest" are just assholes who can afford nice clothes.
The Elites of Europe on all sides endlessly beat the twin drums of nationalism and war. Draw the attending of the Sheeple masses away from their everyday troubles and blame all of their problems on some foreign Boogeyman.
"Just let us take you to war and everything in the world will be right." they claimed.
Nothing Has Changed - Man has not evolved. The Killer Ape simply has invented new and better ways to slaughter mankind in ever larger numbers.
Few of the hundreds of wars in history have had any real meaning. In most cases if the wars had never been fought nothing would have changed or the world might have even been a better place.
While we must always defend our homeland, beware of the politicians in Devil-Horns preaching foreign adventures . . . . adventures that they will not be participating in themselves. The political hacks are always volunteering other people's children for wars.
But today let us honor those who foolishly or not answered the call to arms in the Great War - The War to End All Wars.
Yeah, "to end all wars." Right. Pure bumper sticker bullshit.

The Pogues - The band played waltzing Matilda
WWI skeleton in a trench. . 25,000,000 Dead . The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I was staggering. The numbers are even higher if you include the resulting revolution in Russia and spin-off wars from Poland to Greece. . The horror of trench warfare proves that the leadership class was insane. Battle after battle, year after year, the generals would order their troops to charge at the prepared trench defenses of the enemy with the exact same result - mass slaughter. It was an endless cycle of slaughter, draft new soldiers and more slaughter. . I idea of making peace never entered the minds of the moronic generals and politicians. Only the Russian people had the guts to rise in revolution against the insane warmonger "best and brightest" leadership class. . But all those corpses had no meaning to the political hack liars ruling Europe. To them the war was all about money, power and imperialism. As fast as humanly possible Britain and France eagerly pulled down the German and Turkish flags in Africa and Asia and raised their own imperial banners with brand new colonies. The common soldier died so the Elites could create an Empire. |
Waltzing Matilda And now every April I sit on my porch And I watch the parade pass before me And I watch my old comrades, how proudly they march Reliving old dreams of past glory And the old men march slowly, all bent, stiff and sore The forgotten heroes from a forgotten war And the young people ask, "What are they marching for?" And I ask myself the same question And the band plays Waltzing Matilda And the old men answer to the call But year after year their numbers get fewer Some day no one will march there at all .
