Colorado Senate race is now a tossup

Colorado Senate
44%  -  R
42%  -  D

Add another Senate race to the tossup list: Colorado.

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Sen. Mark Udall, a Democrat, trailing Rep. Cory Gardner, a Republican, by 2 percentage points, 44-42 percent.

By a 49-40 margin, voters say Udall does not deserve to be re-elected.

Colorado has come into play only recently. President Barack Obama carried the state in 2012 by 5 percentage points, but the new survey showed state voters today disapprove of the job he’s doing by a 58-39 percent margin. And voters give Gardner better marks on the economy, saying by a 46-35 percent margin the Republican would do a better job handling such issues reports McClatchy DC.

Some other findings:

Voters say, by a 44 – 39 percent margin, that Gardner would be better helping the middle class; 40 – 38 percent, a tie, that Gardner would be better on immigration; 44 – 37 percent that Udall would be better on energy and the environment; 41 – 41 percent on who would be better on the new health care law;  43 – 37 percent that Udall would be better on abortion; 47 – 34 percent that Udall would be better on issues important to women and 46 – 33 percent that Gardner would be better on gun control.
