Iran’s economy, ranked the 22nd-largest in the world last year with a G.D.P. of about $2 trillion, has been plagued by inflation, slow growth and U.S. economic sanctions.
Among the hopefuls to join are the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros, Gabon, Bangladesh, Belarus, and Guinea-Bissau.
