Starting The Week off on a High Note
- I have decided to try and start each new week off on a positive high note. But being a glass half empty kind of guy I suspect things will turn into crap soon enough.
"Candle in the Wind" music and lyrics by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. It was originally written in 1973, in honor of Marilyn Monroe, who had died 11 years earlier.
Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" (1942) as performed by Bing Crosby is the best-selling single worldwide, with estimated sales of over 50 million copies. Candel in the Wind is the biggest-selling single since US singles charts began in the 1950s, having accumulated worldwide sales of 33 million copies.
This makes it the second-best-selling single of all time.
Goodbye Norma Jeane
From the young man in the twenty second row
Who sees you as something as more than sexual
More than just our Marilyn Monroe
