Dark Phoenix & X-Men Films From Worst to Best

Rule #1
Don't Listen to The Critics
They are Usually Full of Shit

By Gary;

Being an old fart, I started reading the X-Men comics when they were first published in 1963.

With 56 years of X-Men under my belt I think my reviews are worth a Hell of a lot more than those of casual viewers who just want to stink up the cesspool called Rotten Tomatoes.

It is hard to believe that the X-Men films have been a 19 year adventure. It seems like only yesterday that the first film came out.

But as to the Dark Phoenix, I refused to read the endless reviews trashing the movie. Fuck 'em. It was hard for me to believe that I was watching the same film being trashed by so-called "reviewers" and a brain-dead public.

Simply, I was more than entertained by Dark Phoenix. It was a well done SciFi-Action film and a fitting end to the Fox version of the X-Men saga. Lots of action, a decent plot and good acting. Certainly it was far better than the Phoenix offered in X-Men: The Last Stand.

A shout out must go to Sophie Turner who did a wonderful Jean Grey.

To be entertained. I am not sure what more a movie can offer.

Rated 8 out of 10

X-Men Movies From Worst to Best
19 years of X-Men

#12  -  The Wolverine (2013)

Wolverine in Japan - - - bad from the get go. The A-Bomb drop was the high point. It was all down hill from there.

#11  -  X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

A rather confused mess of a movie. Some aspects were good, but rather tired.

#10  -  X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

Things started to improve with Wolverine. Some folks don't like this film, but I enjoy it.

#9  -  Deadpool 2 (2018)

This comes under the "What the Fuck #2" category.  Deadpool is so off the wall.

#8  -  X-Men: First Class (2011)

A great re-boot of the series with a great 1960s tip of the hat to James Bond.  James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence saved the series.

#7  -  Deadpool (2016)

Here is "What the Fuck #1". A film so totally off the wall and unexpected. Ryan Reynolds hit a home run with bases loaded.

#6  -  Logan (2017)

Utterly realistic and totally depressing. An aging Professor X and Wolverine. A downer to watch, but very well done.

#5  -  Dark Phoenix (2019)

See review above. I was impressed.

#4  -  X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

So very, very well done in so many ways.

#3  -  X2 (2003)

I can't count the number of times I have watched #2.  Nearly perfect.

#2  -  X-Men (2000)

As an X-Man fan since childhood I drooled as this film came out. I saw it at least 10 times in the theater. It still stands up today.

#1  -  X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

Perhaps one of the top five SciFi movies of all time.

So many characters to balance. Time travel. Super over the top quality acting. The plot of terminator Sentinel robots from before the Arnold Schwarzenegger series gives us a frightening view of where we are headed.

So all hail the X-Men. It has been a great run.

Days of Future Past (Jan. 1981)
The Classic of Classics
xx
"Days of Future Past" is a storyline published in 1981. It deals with a dystopian future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An adult Kate Pryde transfers her mind into her younger self, the present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history that triggers anti-mutant hysteria.
xx

In the future, Sentinels rule a dystopian United States, and mutants are hunted and placed in internment camps. Having conquered North America and hunted all mutants and other superhumans, the Sentinels are turning their attention to the rest of the world.
x
On the eve of a feared
nuclear holocaust, the few remaining X-Men, while making a desperate attempt to stop the Sentinels, send Kitty Pryde's mind backward through time, to possess the body of her younger-self and to prevent a pivotal event in mutant–human history and the cause of these events: the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly by Mystique's newly reassembled Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
