Being Blue Means Getting the Green
Jennifer Lawrence's movies have grossed over $2.5 Billion
I have loved the X-Men ever since I was reading their comics as a kid. Now Jennifer Lawrence may receive her own X-Men spinoff movie based on her character, Mystique.
The 23-year-old actress first brought young Mystique to life in X-Men: First Class (2011), and she will also portray her in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. Rebecca Romijn portrayed an older version of the character in other X-Men films.
Mystique stands out in the series' movies -- a shapeshifter of dubious allegiance with yellow eyes, whose skin is blue in its natural state. The character was born Raven Darkhölme, and is portrayed as a young mutant who struggles with her powers in First Class. She shares a close relationship with Professor X in the prequel, but aligns with Magneto's evil Brotherhood of Mutants in other films reports UPI News.

Mystique would be the second character in the X-Men film series to receive its own spinoff movie. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) was the first, and Jackman has starred in two successful films, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and The Wolverine (2013), which focus on the character's story.
Days of Future Past producer Lauren Shuler Donner tells Entertainment Weekly that more spinoffs are in the works.
"There was a regime [at the studio] that didn't see the worth in [spinoffs]," the producer says. "The current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we're going to do right by it."
Lawrence as Mystique is one option the producers have considered. "I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her," Donner continues. "I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there's so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo."
The producer admits that she personally would like to see Gambit or Deadpool get their own series, but simply says, "We'll see."
"There's a lot of really great characters," Donner concludes.
X-Men: First Class debuts in theaters on May 23. X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled for May 2016, and a third Wolverine movie will be released in March 2017.
