But while the Elites fatten their wallets with corrupt special interest money and attend Georgetown cocktail parties, it will be the blood and guts of average Americans in the military that gets spread all over the planet.

Why are we being pushed into a war against Syria?

There is a steady media and government drumbeat in the West for war to overthrow the Syrian government.
Syrian Muslim and Christian minority groups have supported the Baath Government.

There is a steady drum beat from the United States, Europe and many Muslim nations to overthrow the Baathist government of Syria using some level of military force.

Why?

First of all, I don't believe for one second that the Western powers really care. The U.S. and Europeans don't give a rat's ass that there have been people killed in Syria. Over the years the Western nations have spilled rivers of blood to put down internal rebellions and civil wars. For example, Britain in Ireland and in their overseas colonies and now in Libya. France in Algeria, Indochina and Libya. Italy in North Africa. The U.S. in the Philippines, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Libya.

I suspect the motives of the anti-Baathist Muslim nations. Perhaps they do not like the Baathists for having been a secular political force or for their protection of Muslim and Christian minority groups.

Americans would have been furiously angry if during our Civil War the British and French fleets had attacked Baltimore and New York in support of the Confederacy. Are we so arrogant that we refuse to believe that other nations might resent us interfering in their internal affairs?

Syrians need to be left alone to resolve their own problems.

As 10% of Syria's population Christians have been a protected minority of Assad's secular Baath Party. Looking at church burning in Egypt they are deeply concerned about an Islamist takeover with the help of Americans and Europeans.

In an article for the Los Angeles Times Aram Nerguizian, a visiting fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, made some interesting observations on the complex nature of Middle East politics. Everything is not as simple as good guy - bad guy.

Writes Nerguizian: "The core of Assad's support still lies within the minority Alawite sect, of which he is a member. Many Alawites, who make up about 12% of the population, feel that Assad has mismanaged the instability, but they cannot ignore the reality that, in a Sunni-dominated Syria, their community — like the Sunnis of Iraq and the Maronite Christians of Lebanon — is likely to be pushed to the margins of power and suffer reprisals."

"But it would be a mistake to assume that only the Alawites support the status quo. The Syrian Baath Party's Arab nationalist ideology, its strong support for the Palestinians and its opposition to Israel have proved useful tools in extending the regime's legitimacy beyond the Alawite sect."

"One source of support for Assad is Syria's Christian community, which makes up about 10% of the population. Though many Christians feel that the regime has made numerous mistakes in addressing the protest movements, they have a deep and understandable fear of the sort of instability and sectarian recriminations that followed Saddam Hussein's fall in Iraq."

"The majority of Iraqi Christians there were eventually forced to flee the country after suffering high levels of violence and intimidation. Other minority groups, such as Syrian Kurds and Druze, have either continued their support of Assad or have resisted the urge to join elements of the protest movement for similar reasons."

"Though Sunnis account for the overwhelming majority of Syrian opposition to the Assad regime, there are other Sunnis within the Baath Party's rank and file that would have few prospects in a post-Assad Syria and so have not opposed the status quo. The country's Sunni merchant class and business community, located mainly in Aleppo and Damascus, have also remained largely on the sidelines of the protests. Some have supported elements of the opposition, but most remain fearful of the socioeconomic vacuum that an abrupt change in leadership would create."

About 500,000 in number and concentrated in the rocky mountainscape of the Jabal Al Arab, the Druze are among the smallest of Syria’s minority groups, fewer than the Alawites, Kurds or Christians.

But their reputation for rebellion against central authority and for wielding an influence in Syrian political life disproportionate to their numbers means their support is avidly sought by both Bashar Al Assad and the president’s opponents reports The National News.

Over 500,000 Druze live in Syria alone.

However, in the struggle for Druze support, it is the regime that for the moment remains on top, according to both critics and supporters of the government in the Druze community. Sweida is still seen as a bastion of at least tacit support for Mr Al Assad’s regime, 11 months into an uprising against his rule.

“When it comes to organising big protests, we’ve failed,” said one Druze activist from Sweida. “The uprising here is limited to the intellectuals. We’ve not been successful in getting it out into the wider community.”

Sweida’s silence, according to activists, analysts and Syrian Druze on both sides of the political divide, is the result of a variety of factors, from mundane practical problems to the long-harboured fears of a minority terrified by the prospect of rule by Syria’s Sunni Muslim majority.

Druze religious leaders have refused to back the protesters. They side with Al Assad and, like him, give warning of a “foreign conspiracy”. Early in the uprising, activists in Sweida held meetings with Druze sheikhs including the three most powerful, Hamoud Al Hinnawi, Hussein Jabour and Ahmed Hajari, to solicit their support.

“They were all with the regime, we couldn’t get them even to be impartial,” said an influential opposition figure involved in the talks. “One of them told us that he would not send shabbiheh [thugs] against us but was unsatisfied with our protests. That was the most positive response we got.

“The other meetings were very bad. One sheikh said, ‘there are 100 dogs [protesters] in Sweida and if they were killed the city would be a better place’.”

Of the 2,000 security personnel the authorities say have been killed since March, 100 have been Druze, a disproportionate number that suggests Druze security officers are playing a prominent role in confronting the uprising.

The Dutch are sending mobile euthanasia units to travel around the country. The teams are made up of specially trained doctors and nurses. They go to the homes of people whose own doctors have refused to carry out patients' requests to end their lives.

The launch of the so-called Levenseinde, or "Life End", house-call units – whose services are being offered to Dutch citizens free of charge – coincides with the opening of a clinic of the same name in The Hague, which will take patients with incurable illnesses as well as others who do not want to die at home reports the UK Guardian.

The scheme is an initiative by the Dutch Association for a Voluntary End to Life (NVVE), a 130,000-member euthanasia organisation that is the biggest of its kind in the world.

"The Life End clinic will have mobile teams where people who believe they are eligible for euthanasia can register," Walburg de Jong, a NVVE spokesman, said.

Sick people or their relatives can submit their applications via telephone or email and if the patient's request fulfills a number of strict criteria, the team is then dispatched.

Legal guidelines state that the person must be incurably sick, be suffering unbearable pain and have expressed the wish to die voluntarily, clearly and on several occasions.

Every year 2,300 to 3,100 mercy killings are carried out in the Netherlands, although opponents of the practice claim the figure is much higher because many cases are not registered. The Royal Dutch Medical Association (KNMG) supports euthanasia in principle if there is no alternative

A crematorium has come up with a novel way to cut down on its fuel bill - by hooking up its furnaces to the National Grid says the UK Daily Mail.

Durham Crematorium has submitted plans to install turbines in its three burners which can convert the huge amounts of heat generated during the cremation process into electricity.

The first turbine will provide around £2,500 of heating for the facility's chapel and offices each month through a 'heat recovery' system.

But crematorium bosses believe surplus energy from the other two turbines - enough to power around 1,500 television sets - could be fed into the National Grid. The turbines will be powered by steam released by cooling hot gases used in the cremation process. The scheme is part of a £2.3million upgrade of the facility.

And it could be adopted by other crematoria across the country forced to revamp their systems in order to meet Government targets on harmful mercury emissions. Almost one fifth of mercury pollution in the UK comes from crematoria emissions through dental fillings. Crematoria have been ordered to eliminate such emissions by 2020.

Sir George Young, Conservative Party Leader of the House of Commons and Lord Privy Seal, said the proposal to warm a Worcestershire leisure centre with heat from a nearby crematorium was a “groundbreaking scheme”.

He said the Government is considering whether the plan could be duplicated elsewhere in Britain reports the UK Telegraph.

“The Government is aware of this particular scheme,” he said. “The Department for Energy and Climate Change will shortly be publishing its heat strategy and this will explore the potential for better recovery and reuse of wasted heat in schemes such as this one.”

Redditch Borough Council will be the first authority in the country to use a crematorium to heat a swimming pool. Work has already begun on the project, which is expected to be completed this spring. Since the plans were approved in February last year, they have won an award from the Green Organisation.

Karen Lumley, the Conservative MP for Redditch, had raised the plan as an example of an “innovative scheme which could save £14,500 a year to the taxpayer by heat not being put out into the atmosphere”.

Unison, the trade union, has previously described the cost-saving proposals as "sick and an insult to local residents".

However, the scheme is pushing ahead to will link the crematorium with the Abbey Stadium Leisure Centre.

Comrade Obama's top Federal prosecutor in California's Central Valley said Tuesday that he plans a tour this week to tell farmers that the Big Brother Government will ignore their property rights and confiscate their farms if marijuana is found on them.

Fascist U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner will visit the Fresno County Farm Bureau and the Kern County Sherriff's Department to warn owners of private property to obey their Federal Masters in the coming Drug War crackdown reports the Associated Press.

Big Brother Federal Investigators have found marijuana fields primarily in the southern part of the valley, from Stanislaus County to Kern County, Wagner said in an address to the Sacramento Press Club. The crackdown targets landowners who allow their properties to be used for marijuana cultivation.

Wagner called the large-scale operations "a hazard to people in those farming communities."

Ryan Jacobsen of the Fresno County Farm Bureau welcomed the news. He said residents are endangered by the marijuana grows, which often are operated by absentee landowners.

Norman Smith seemed to be making progress in his liver cancer recovery at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. He had some of the best doctors in the world, he was on a transplant list and he had completed a successful clinical trial that had his doctors dubbing him a “miracle man.”

Then, his cancer returned and two months before he was would have received a transplant, he was de-listed for smoking medical marijuana prescribed by his oncologist at Cedars-Sinai. Now, if he doesn’t receive a transplant, he will die.

“It’s only my life that I’m fighting for,” says Smith. “What do I have to hide? I have nothing to hide.”

Cedars-Sinai declined interview requests but referred Reason TV to Peggy Stewart, a clinical social worker with UCLA’s transplant program, which holds a similar position to Cedars-Sinai on medical marijuana.

“Marijuana is considered substance abuse,” says Stewart. “The legality of it is really not an issue.”

The Treasurer, thinking he was being blackmailed, called the Alameda district attorney to get his wife a stay-away order imposed against the man, identified by the Chronicle as 35-year-old Stephen Chikhani, a construction worker from San Jose.

Chikhani met Lockyer in 2010, when they were both in rehab - he for meth and she for alcohol. The two had an off-and-on affair that became public after she called police to the Homewood Suites in Newark early Feb. 3 to report that he had assaulted her. Chikhani has a long history of methamphetamine arrests.

On Feb. 3, Lockyer's world came crashing down around her in a Newark motel. At 2:40 a.m., she called 911 to report that she had been attacked by an alleged "ex-boyfriend," causing head and neck injuries that required medical treatment. She had her 8-year-old son with her in the motel room reports the Contra Costa Times.

The Lockyers went into damage control mode. Nadia Lockyer, 40, issued a statement saying that she had entered rehab. Her 70-year-old husband claimed that his wife had gone to the motel to comfort an ex-boyfriend who was suicidal and had a long criminal record. "Her only fault is having one too many drinks," he said.

The news report also said that after Bill Lockyer watched the sex tape and read a string of text messages between his wife and the other man. There were reports that the sex tape was briefly posted on Youtube before being taken down.

NATO was created in 1949 as an alliance of Western European nations, the U.S. and Canada to act as a block to the expansion of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union is gone. But NATO is still here and expanding ever eastwards. Now NATO is pushing into central Asia Caspian Sea region bordering right on Iran and Russia.

On April 9, a high-ranking NATO delegation will visit Muslim Azerbaijan in order to begin negotiations on granting the country an "Individual Partnership Action Plan" . . . . . whatever the Hell that means, but I suspect it means whatever NATO wants it to mean at any given point in time.

The meeting will discuss Azeri politics, security, defense, scientific capability, and environment problems.

So far, Azerbaijan has been moving very cautiously towards NATO, out of consideration for its neighbor, Iran. However, the tense political situation in the region has prompted Baku to seek a new policy direction.

Azeri analysts believe that NATO will be welcoming of their country, as it could help further separate Tehran and Moscow, it could secure an otherwise “risky” country like Azerbaijan, and it may provide access to Azeri energy resources. (Infowars.com)

The U.S. Senate did approve the NATO Treaty some 60 years ago, but the membership and military goals of NATO are changing. U.S. tax money and troops are on the hook for a huge NATO expansion that was never approved by the Senate.

Bodog founder Calvin Ayre — along with fellow Canadians James Philip, David Ferguson and Derrick Maloney — were indicted by a grand jury in Maryland reports the Los Angeles Times.

The indictment accused the men of daring to act like they were free and for conducting a sports betting business and conspiring to commit money laundering. Translation. They dared to move the money that belongs to them around. Heaven forbid. The bullshit indictment was unsealed by the U.S. attorney's office in Baltimore.

Last year, federal agents seized three of the top poker sites — PokerStars, Absolute Poker and Full Tilt Poker — indicting several executives on charges of illegal gambling.

Bodog executives paid more than $42 million over three years for an advertising campaign directed at gamblers in the U.S., prosecutors allege. The company has hundreds of employees in Canada and Costa Rica, according to a former worker quoted in an affidavit.

Rick Santorum is a fucking joke. Eight weeks ago the polls showed 96% of Republicans rejected Santorum. He was polling 4%. Getting 4% is in the margin of error of many polls. His real support could have been ZERO.

Insanity - The American political system is insane. No place in the world would any political party select as their leader in the election a candidate with nearly zero national support. But our stupid system allows near unknowns (like Obama) to become President with control of atomic weapons.

Only Romney has the real national organization that is needed to take on the White House Communist.

Maybe we can kill off Santorum next week on Super Tuesday. The corrupt whore Gingrich is almost gone. I was hoping Ron Paul would do better. But in the war of ideas seeing Paul pull huge audiences of young people at colleges is encouraging for the future.

In a final wrap, Michigan's precincts showed Romney at 41 percent and Santorum at 38 percent. Paul was winning 12 percent of the vote to 7 percent for Gingrich. In Arizona Romney had 48 percent, Santorum 26, Gingrich 16 percent and Paul 8 percent.

On to Super Tuesday. The time has come. Republicans, let's end this primary now and focus on the Commie bastard in the White House.

There is almost no justice in modern day America.

The court system favors giant deep-pocket billionaire corporations and the government itself against simple common people. Unless you have millions to defend yourself in court you are royally fucked. What passes for "justice" is simply court rulings going to the highest bidder.

On February 24, Judge Naomi Buchwald handed down a ruling on a motion to dismiss in the case of Organic Seed Growers and Trade Assn et al v. Monsanto after hearing oral argument on January 31st in Federal District Court in Manhattan.

Her ruling to dismiss the case brought against Monsanto on behalf of organic farmers, seed growers and agricultural organizations representing farmers and citizens was met with great disappointment by the plaintiffs reports Infowars.

Monsanto’s history of aggressive investigations and lawsuits brought against farmers in America have been a source of concern for organic and non-GMO farmers since Monsanto’s first lawsuit brought against a farmer in the mid-90′s. Since then, 144 farmers have had lawsuits brought against them by Monsanto for alleged violations of their patented seed technology.

Monsanto has brought charges against more than 700 additional farmers who have settled out-of-court rather than face Monsanto’s belligerent litigious actions. Many of these farmers claim to not have had the intention to grow or save seeds that contain Monsanto’s patented genes. Seed drift and pollen drift from genetically engineered crops often contaminate neighboring fields. If Monsanto’s seed technology is found on a farmer’s land without contract they can be found liable for patent infringement.

“Family farmers need the protection of the court,” said Maine organic seed farmer Jim Gerritsen, President of lead plaintiff OSGATA. "Family farmers deserve our day in court and this flawed ruling will not deter us from continuing to seek justice.”

The jack-booted march of bi-partisan Fascist Big Brother never ends. Now the so-called "Conservative" government of Canada is trying on their own brown shirts and jack-boots.

Brand new Canadian legislation would allow police, intelligence and competition bureau officers access to Internet subscriber information -- including name, address, telephone number, email address and Internet Protocol address -- without a warrant.

It would also require telecommunication service providers to have the technical capability to enable police and spies to intercept messages and conversations.

Among other things, the bill forces ISPs to install surveillance technology and software to enable monitoring of phone and internet traffic. Section 34 is there to make sure ISPs comply. So what, exactly, does it say?

Essentially, it says that government agents may enter an ISP when they wish, without a warrant, and demand to see absolutely everything — including all data anywhere on the network — and to copy it all reports Terry Milewski of CBC News.

First, Section 33 tells us that, "The Minister may designate persons or classes of persons as inspectors for the purposes of the administration and enforcement of this Act." So we're not talking about police officers necessarily. We're talking about anyone the minister chooses — or any class of persons.

Next, Section 34 spells out the sweeping powers of these "inspectors." And, if they sound Orwellian, welcome to the world of Section 34.

The inspectors may "enter any place owned by, or under the control of, any telecommunications service provider in which the inspector has reasonable grounds to believe there is any document, information, transmission apparatus, telecommunications facility or any other thing to which this Act applies."

The inspector, says the bill, may "examine any document, information or thing found in the place and open or cause to be opened any container or other thing." He or she may also "use, or cause to be used, any computer system in the place to search and examine any information contained in or available to the system."

You read that right. The inspector gets to see "any" information that's in or "available to the system." Yours, mine, and everyone else's emails, phone calls, web surfing, shopping, you name it. But, if that sounds breath-taking enough, don't quit now because the section is still not done.

The inspector is also empowered to copy anything that strikes his or her fancy. The inspector may "reproduce, or cause to be reproduced, any information in the form of a printout, or other intelligible output, and remove the printout, or other output, for examination or copying."

Finally, note that such all-encompassing searches require no warrant, and don't even have to be in the context of a criminal investigation. Ostensibly, the purpose is to ensure that the ISP is complying with the requirements of the act — but nothing in the section restricts the inspector to examining or seizing only information bearing upon that issue. It's still "any" information whatsoever.

Story #1) Police used McDonald's hamburgers to lure naked man off tower

Police were able to lure a naked man who spent hours atop a downtown Los Angeles radio tower with McDonald's hamburgers.

The man climbed to the top of the tower Wednesday night. At one point, police sources said, he asked for hamburgers from McDonald's. Officials complied, and he agreed to come down after eating his meal.

The 45-year-old Arizona resident was uninjured. It was unclear why he climbed the structure, which is part of a city personnel building just east of the downtown skyline.

He removed items of clothing after he began scaling the tower about 4 p.m.

"He started taking his clothes off as he climbed," Officer Karen Rayner told The Times.

Word to the wise: Maybe it's not the smartest thing to jog in what looks like a gas mask and body armor, and then jam a package in a post office box.

It could touch off what happened Tuesday at the busy San Jose post office on Lundy Avenue: a full-scale police response, complete with the bomb squad and a robot.

But San Jose police said the suspicious-looking jogger seen fidgeting with a package at a drop-off box was only working out in hard-core, albeit odd-looking, exercise gear.

"The guy said he was wearing a cardio mask," said Sgt. Jason Dwyer. "It was his cardio day, and he was trying to lose weight."

That's not what a post office customer thought when the man in the weird mask and vest was stuffing a package in a blue mail box about 12:30 p.m. The customer called police, and in a flash, the post office was on lockdown until 4:30 p.m., with 150 employees and customers tucked away in the back.

The San Jose police bomb squad, the Fire Department's hazardous materials unit and the postal inspector descended on a normally quiet strip of North San Jose. A robot detonated the package, which turned out, police said, to be a bunch of calendars.

"My friends kept messaging me, Is this you? Is this you?" recounted Long Hoang, who lives near the post office and is a student at Cal State East Bay in Hayward.

Story #3) Dwarf left paralyzed after being thrown by drunken Rugby fan

Police are hunting a drunken reveler wanted for random dwarf tossing after a man was left partially paralyzed following an assault at a pub during a rugby match.

Martin Henderson - celebrating his 37th birthday with friends - was thrown into the air by a hooded thug in a copycat of the shamed England rugby star Mike Tindall's behavior in the summer.

Tindall was kicked out of the Elite Player Squad and fined £25,000 after a Rugby Football Union investigation into his drunken night in a dwarf-themed Queenstown bar.

In the copycat incident a month later, Henderson suffered damage to nerve tissue in his spine causing his legs to go numb after landing on his back on the pavement.

Officers have now launched an investigation into the incident.

Henderson condemned the hooded stranger after the cruel prank left him confined to a wheelchair. He said: "From what I remember, there was only one person involved but it was very scary as I didn't know what was going on.

"I guess I was an easy target and the only reason I was picked on was because I am small.

A Kitchener, Canada father was arrested by police at his children’s’ school, hauled him down to the station and strip-searched. All because his four-year-old daughter drew a picture of a gun at school.

“I’m picking up my kids and then, next thing you know, I’m locked up,” said Jessie Sansone, 26, reports The Record.

“I was in shock. This is completely insane. My daughter drew a gun on a piece of paper at school.”

The school principal, police and child welfare officials, however, all stand by their actions. They said they had to investigate to determine whether there was a gun in Sansone’s house that children had access to.

“From a public safety point of view, any child drawing a picture of guns and saying there’s guns in a home would warrant some further conversation with the parents and child,” said Alison Scott, executive director of Family and Children’s Services.

Police officers went to his home, where his wife and 15-month-old child were waiting for his return. They made his wife come to the police station while the other three children were taken to Family and Children’s Services to be interviewed.

“Nobody was given any explanation,” said his wife, Stephanie Squires. “I didn’t know why he was being arrested.

“He had absolutely no idea what this was even about. I just kept telling them. ‘You’re making a mistake.’ ”

At the police station the father kept asking questions. He was given a blanket and told he would appear before a judge in the morning to post bail.

“I was getting pretty scared at that point,” Sansone said. “It seemed like I was actually being charged at this point.” He was forced to remove his clothes for a full strip search.

Several hours later, a detective apologized and said he was being released with no charges, Sansone said.

Funded under a $635.8-million contract awarded by the Navy in 2007, the X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System Carrier Demonstration program has grown in cost to an estimated $813 million reports the Los Angeles Times.

Last February, the first X-47B had its maiden flight from Edwards Air Force Base, where it continued testing until last month when it was carried from the Mojave Desert to Naval Air Station Patuxent River in southern Maryland. It is there that the next stage of the demonstration program begins.

This personal pension program would be supervised by the very people who bankrupted the state.
Any employer who fails to enroll in the program or offer their own pension plan would be fined $1,000 per employee.
The Socialist legislator's bill says the state will guarantee the investments - that is taxpayers will cover any shortages.

Two leading Democrat Socialist legislators in the People's Republic of California introduced legislation Thursday that creates a new state level retirement savings for private-sector workers of "modest means". The bill would form a government-run program for private-sector workers whose employers do not offer pensions or 401(k) plans.

They said it could help an estimated 6.7 million California workers.

California Democrats appear to be in a contest to see just how many employers and jobs they can ship to other states and nations. Never mind what company in its' right mind would even want to build a brand new business in California?

Socialist Democrat Senator Kevin de Leon and Senate Marxist Whore President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg introduced the People's Bill SB1234.

This People's legislation would require employers with five or more workers to enroll them into what they have termed a "personal pension program" to be run by a state board. Their idea is to get small-business employees and hospitality workers who don't make much money to save more for their retirement reports the San Jose Mercury News.

The Socialist lawmakers said they believed their program would be the first in which a state government established a retirement program for workers in the private sector. As a program with little or no precedent, several issues remain unsettled, such as whether California taxpayers would ever be on the hook if future investment returns failed to meet projections.

SB1234 would establish the Golden State Retirement Savings Trust, which would be administered by a six-member board, including:

State Controller
Director of Finance
and an appointment each by the Governor, Senate and Assembly.

Unlike in an individual IRA or 401(k) account, their benefits—defined as their contributions plus earnings—would be guaranteed when they retire.

Republican lawmakers warned that taxpayers or employers could wind up on the hook to cover any shortfalls if the government starts guaranteeing benefits to private-sector employees.

Only women will be able to view the full £30,000 advert commissioned by the children's charity Plan UK as part of its "Because I Am a Girl" campaign, which aims to ensure girls in the world's poorest countries are able to receive a good education.

Opposition groups in Venezuela are warning that billions of dollars in Chinese loans are driving the state oil company toward bankruptcy. But a bankrupt Venezuela would make them even more dependent on Chinese money to stay afloat.

Miguel Rodriguez, an opposition member of Congress who leaked government memos from the Oil Ministry, predicted that the loans will “end up accelerating the bankruptcy” of Petroleum of Venezuela SA, known by its Spanish acronym, PDVSA.

Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez was so alarmed that he warned Comrade Hugo Chavez that the terms of the loan - which require payment in hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil at cut-rate prices - are creating a “very heavy financial load for PDVSA.”

In a memo addressed to “Comrade President,” Ramirez said that the loans caused PDVSA to lose $12.5 billion last year.

Chinese Communists "buy" Venezuelan oil for $5 a barrel

Rodriguez told The Washington Times that he is preparing legal action to challenge the loans before Venezuela’s high court.

He said the loans are unconstitutional partly because they violate a national law prohibiting the use of state resources as loan guarantees. “These are illegal debt mechanisms,” he said.

Rodriguez said the leaked documents are proof that the loan conditions are bad for PDVSA. He also said that $23 billion of what critics call the “China fund” are unaccounted for.

“The president uses the ‘China fund’ as if it were money in his own pocket,” he said.

Since 2007, Chavez's government has received some $32 billion from China to finance infrastructure in exchange for a steady supply of oil at below market prices.

Out of 23 current railway projects, some 70 per cent have been suspended, partly suspended, or delayed, according to the Chinese state media.

Meanwhile, an unnamed source told Dow Jones, the news agency, that only nine new railways would be commissioned this year, compared to 70 last year.

Having run up enormous debts, the Chinese Railways ministry is struggling to persuade banks to continue to finance its ambitions reports the UK Telegraph.

Ticket sales, meanwhile, have been slow on some lines as travelers baulk at the price.

"The ministry cannot bear so much debt. It has already taken 240 billion yuan (£24 billion) of loans and if it takes much more how can it pay the interest?" said Wang Mengshu, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and senior consultant on the high-speed rail project.

"It can make profits of about 70 billion yuan on freight, but it is making no money on passenger travel. The government should cancel some of the debt, or invest some money itself rather than asking the banks to finance it," he added.

"A lot of projects are half-finished and while nine new lines have been approved this year, no one has started building them."

At the height of the high-speed boom, trains were being fitted with toilets that cost 1.2 million yuan (£120,000) a piece, and taps imported from Japan that cost 7,000 yuan, according to an investigation by Century Weekly magazine.

Questions were raised about how much of the £190 billion high-speed rail budget had been siphoned off, and whether it would have an impact on the safety of the network.

Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, the main shows left on Fox, basically carry water for the religious right. O'Reilly is always playing the "think of the children" and culture war card. Hannity does the same thing while slavishly licking the boots and kissing the ass of any liar political hack who happens to call himself a Republican.

Viewers who can think for themselves will scream at Hannity on their screen for his shameless softball questions. He never asks his Big Government GOP guests why they are eager to build a centralized, all-powerful Police State. Why they have never authored a bill to cut even one single dollar from the Federal budget.

It is always the fault of those evil Democrats . . . even when the Democrats were a minority and had no power it was still the Democrat's fault.

I hate liars and charlatans, but that is all that Fox has left us.

Fox business News recently cancelled Judge Napolitano's Freedom Watch for his support of Ron Paul, criticism of the NDAA, and his anti-war stance. Fox said they plan on airing re-runs from shows aired earlier in the day in its place.

Today we broke the 100,000 mark

I cannot thank the readers of this Blog enough for their support.

As of this morning we broke the 100,000 pageviews mark.

Wow, 100,150 views for a brand new nine month old political Blog. I am both shocked and grateful.

This Blog began in May with a "massive" 834 pageviews.

By August we jumped up to 6,588 views. By January we jumped to 19,949 views in a month.

Not bad for the new kid on the internet news block.

I know there are a million internet news choices available for a reader. The fact that so many have chosen to visit and re-visit this site makes this labor of love worth the work.

In my own way I try to find as many interesting stories as possible that have been ignored or given little to zero coverage by the Big Media Complex.

Spreading the word about Liberty and the need for a strong, but limited Constitutional Republic is vital if we are to have any chance in standing against the creation of an all-powerful 1984 state.

The way Americans "honor" Washington's birthday to a direct insult to the memory of Washington himself and a symptom of the decline of this nation.

To bottom line things, modern Americans don't give a crap about the Father of their Country. Instead of showing even a small, token amount of respect, people today plaster Washington's image on crappy ads to sell shoes, used cars and mattresses. Celebrating his birthday does not even come to anyone's mind. Local events or parades are virtually non-existent.

To add insult to injury we do not even "celebrate" Washington's birthday on his birthday. To insult Washington Congress created a phony pretend holiday on a Monday. Now selected workers would have a three day weekend to go to the beach or to the local casino or just sit on their butts with the remote control in hand to watch endless re-runs of cable TV crap.

From the leadership down most people no longer care. Nearly everyone is self-absorbed.

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul warned the U.S. is "slipping into a fascist system" dominated by government and businesses.

Paul staged his rally near the nation's World War I museum, asserting that the U.S. got off track about 100 years ago during the era of President Woodrow Wilson, who led the nation through World War I and unsuccessfully advocated for the nation's involvement in a forerunner of the United Nations said the Associated Press.

"We've slipped away from a true Republic," Paul said. "Now we're slipping into a fascist system where it's a combination of government and big business and authoritarian rule and the suppression of the individual rights of each and every American citizen."

Although campaign aides were aware, Paul told reporters after his speech that he did not know his rally was coinciding with long-established Missouri and Kansas Republican Party events, where Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell - a vice presidential prospect - was the keynote speaker.

Several Republicans slipped away from the banquets to join the Paul rally. Among them was Ralph Munyan, a Republican committeeman in Kansas City's home county, who said he agreed with Paul's warnings of a "fascist system" and his pledge to the end nation's involvement in wars overseas and against drugs.

"His foreign policy is one of peace," Munyan said.

Paul repeatedly denounced President Barack Obama's recent enactment of a law requiring military custody of anyone suspected to be associated with al-Qaida and involved in planning an attack on the U.S. Obama said when he signed the legislation that his administration would not authorize the indefinite military detention of American citizens without a trial.

Rick Santorum is a Liberal

The truth is Rick Santorum never met a Big Government program he did not want to fund with other people's money. Santorum eagerly backed the No Child Left Behind Act, the creation of a centralized police state with the Department of Homeland Security and Bush's massive and un-funded Medicare expansion.

Ron Paul re-launched his attack against rival Rick Santorum as a liberal, adding he doubts the former Pennsylvania senator could beat President Barack Obama in November if he wins the party's nomination.

"His voting record is, I think from my viewpoint, an atrocious voting record - how liberal he's been in all the things he's voted for over the many years he was in the Senate and in the House," Paul said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Paul, however, argued that the candidates, including Santorum, were focused on the wrong issues.

"This whole idea about that talking about the social issues and who is going to pay for birth control pills, I'm worried about undermining our civil liberties, the constant wars going on, the debt of $16 trillion," Paul told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley. "They are worried about birth control pills and here he wants to control people's social lives."

Chinese censors have "cleaned" the internet of a news story

The Communist Chinese made a "secret" donation to Cambridge University through a phony front company.

Have you heard about the £3.7 million donation to Britain's Cambridge University by China?

Well no one elese has either. . . . . at least inside China.

Communist Party censors have been working overtime to "clean" Chinese web-sites of all stories about the large mystery donation to the university. A source in the Chinese media, who cannot be named for his own protection, told The Daily Telegraph he awoke one morning last week to find the unseen censors had been hard at work.

"In just one night, all discussions and articles about this event on the big Chinese websites [that carried the story] have been 'cleaned'.", the source said.

Serious concerns about the donation from the unknown 'Chong Hua' foundation were raised last month by several Cambridge academics who feared that Beijing was using its vast resources to purchase soft-power influence at the university.

The secretive foundation, which has no website or official listing anywhere in Britain or China, has endowed a chair of Chinese Development studies at the university's prestigious Department of Politics and International studies.

The news that China's state-backed censorship apparatus had moved to erase the story in China, has renewed concerns among Cambridge academics.

"These further revelations make increasingly untenable Cambridge's claim that the Chong Hua foundation has no links to the Chinese government," said Tarak Barkawi, a senior lecturer in war studies at the Department of Politics and International Studies.

"They demonstrate also just what kind of regime Cambridge has chosen to associate itself with, one whose values are antithetical to freedom of thought and freedom of speech, the very basis of the Western academy.

A local source in China reported being directly ordered to remove a story about Chong Hua. "When I asked why, I was told it was 'orders from the top'." the source added.

Ms White claimed she was asked at the meeting to read a copy of the school rules and in particular its zero-tolerance policy on racism.

‘I was told I would have to sign a form acknowledging my son had made a racist remark which would be submitted to the local education authority for further investigation,’ she said.

‘I refused to sign it and I told the teacher in no way did I agree the comment was racist. My son is inquisitive. He always likes to ask questions, but that doesn’t make him a racist.’

The Socialist lunatics at the school had launched an investigation after the younger boy told his mother about Elliott’s comment.

Last year, it was revealed that teachers are branding thousands of British children racist or homophobic following playground squabbles.

Now the NATO forces are "losing" the heroin war in Afghanistan – ten years after Prime Minister Tony Blair pledged that wiping out the drug was one of the main reasons for invading the country. Forget that before the invasion the Taliban was working with the UN to wipe out the poppy fields as un-Islamic.

The UK Daily Mail reports that despite the British spending £18 billion and a conflict which has so far cost the lives of almost 400 British troops, production of the class-A drug by Afghan farmers rose between 2001 and 2011 from just 185 tons to a staggering 5,800 tons.

Sheeple believe the lies they are told on TV news.

It increased by 61 per cent last year alone.

The United Nations yesterday warned that the situation was out of control.

Declaring that the West had lost its war against the drug, a glum UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon added: ‘Time is not on our side.’ The UN figures make grim reading for those who backed the invasion.

Cutting the supply of heroin was one of the prime reasons given by then-prime minister Tony Blair in 2001 for sending in British troops.

MY THEORY - As a civilian I can go on Google right now and look down into my neighbor's back yards if I want to. The U.S. and the NATO commanders are not fools. They know perfectly well what crops are being grown. The military, acting on government orders, is either looking the other way and/or encouraging the production and export of opium to Europe and America.

Why?

My theory is our governments want a population of drugged out non-thinking Sheeple that will not question the rule of their Elite Masters in government. A policy of "Bread and Circuses" if you will. Keep the masses distracted.

Today, some 15 per cent of Afghanistan’s Gross National Product now comes from drug-related exports – a business worth up to £1.6 billion each year, it was claimed.

Officials say there is clear evidence that the opium trade is being orchestrated by the Taliban, with vast profits used to buy weapons and fuel the insurgency.

Before the NATO invasion . . . .

The Taliban had overseen a significant fall in heroin production in the months before the invasion. Their leader Mullah Mohammed Omar – collaborating with the UN – had decreed that growing poppies was un-Islamic, resulting in one of the world’s most successful anti-drug campaigns. And when the Taliban wanted things done they killed anyone who opposed them.

As a result of this ban by the Taliban, opium poppy cultivation was reduced by 91 per cent from the previous year’s estimate of 82,172 hectares.

The ban was so effective that Helmand Province, which had accounted for more than half of this production, recorded no poppy cultivation during the 2001 season.

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime estimated that the 2006 harvest was around 6,100 tons, 33 times its level in 2001, a 3,200 per cent increase in five years.

Cultivation in 2006 reached a record 165,000 hectares compared with 104,000 in 2005 and 7,606 in 2001 under the Taliban. This fell in figures for 2010 because of crop disease, but the UN figures show that it increased sharply again last year when 131,000 hectares were under cultivation, producing some 5,800 tons of opium.......

Corruption in the Gingrich Campaign?

The campaign would not explain how the candidate "forgot" about $45,000 in receipts.
The Washington Times found the better part of a million dollars in unexplained cash to Gingrich, family members and top staffers.

When Newt Gingrich’s campaign disclosed in October it planned to pay the candidate $70,000 for travel expenses in the third quarter, the transfer was an anomaly among presidential campaigns.

But weeks ago, the former House speaker revised his third-quarter bill: Gingrich actually expected to personally receive $115,000 of the funds donated to his campaign to reimburse himself for expenses during that period reports the Washington Times.

The campaign would not explain how the candidate forgot about $45,000 in receipts, what they were for or why the campaign wasn’t simply paying the invoices directly, as other campaigns do.

Far beyond that payment, the uses of donations to Gingrich’s campaign are being obscured on a massive scale by the unprecedented use of a legally questionable tactic, The Washington Times found one that has accompanied the flow of the better part of a million dollars in unexplained cash to Gingrich, family members and top staffers.

The money reportedly was to reimburse employees for unspecified expenses in what amounted to petty cash exceeding their entire salaries, The Times’s analysis of federal records showed. The move would be permitted only if, election lawyers say, that money was spread across so many vendors that not a single company received more than $200 in total.

“That’s an enormous amount of money, and not $200 wound up in the same place? I find that extraordinarily hard to believe,” said Brett Kappel, an election-law lawyer for Arent Fox LLC, a law firm and lobbying group based in Washington, D.C. “I’ve never seen a major presidential campaign run this way but I’ve only been doing this for 21 years.

“If this recurs throughout the campaign, this is the kind of issue where you get audited,” he said.

In fact, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) flagged the issue Sept. 22, reminding Gingrich officials that, according to the law, campaigns may not simply report that significant amounts of money were paid to reimburse middlemen for other, untold expenditures. If staff foot a travel bill and are reimbursed, the underlying bills must be disclosed, unless the cumulative total spent by the campaign at each store, hotel, restaurant or other vendor in question remains less than $200.

The Gingrich campaign did not respond to repeated requests from the Washington Times for information about its expenditures and accounting practices.

Army enlisted leaders all over the world are being ordered to take the Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training Exercise Leaders Course, or PPPT, according to U.S. Army Medical Activity Japan health promotion educator Jana York.

During the training, each NCO must wear the pregnancy simulator for at least an hour.

“When they first come in, the males are typically timid and don’t feel they have the knowledge to teach female soldiers,” she said. “However, after three days their confidence rises.”

Sgt. Michael Braden, a helicopter crew chief who has served in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo, said he was less than enthusiastic about taking part.

“I didn’t want to do it,” said Braden, 29, of Everett, Wash.

The 78th Aviation Battalion mechanic said he was ordered to do the training even though he doesn’t have any female soldiers in his unit and doesn’t see himself as the right sort of person to run the aerobics classes that make up a large portion of the PPPT training.

Despite his misgivings, Braden strapped on the empathy belly and spent Tuesday morning learning low-impact aerobics moves like the “grapevine” and the “V-step.”

They then learned how to correctly put on a condom using goggles that gave them a drunken view of things, and played a variety of games that promoted safer sex reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

The school's annual "Love Fest" drew hundred of teens in the school's central courtyard.

At one table, health teacher Raina Meyers put goggles on students that made their vision slightly blurry, simulating a drunken state. She then told them to put a condom on a wooden penis.

Most of the students left air in the condom tip, which could lead to breakage, and that prompted an instructional rebuke from Meyers.

"You're pregnant!" Meyers told one girl who failed the drunk-goggle test, and to a boy, "You have gonorrhea."

Many students admitted they decided to participate after teachers said they would get extra credit.

District officials acknowledged the school's activity on Valentine's Day might offend some, but school officials said the event highlights the "joy and importance" of healthy relationships.

China's Shanghai Pengxin was looking to buy 16 farms spread across almost 8,000 hectares in the country's North Island reports the BBC.

Justice Forest Miller of High Court in Wellington has asked the government to reconsider its decision saying it had overstated the benefits.

A local farming consortium had appealed against the sale and offered to buy the land themselves.

"We're very pleased with the decision from Justice Miller,'' said Alan McDonald a spokesperson for the consortium.

"Our view is that Shanghai Pengxin never brought any real economic benefits to New Zealand."

Since the sale involves more than 5 hectares of land and is valued at more than 100 million New Zealand Dollars ($84 million; £53 million), it had to approved by the Overseas Investment Office (OIO).

KMP secretary general Danilo Ramos said the deal is part of the total project worth $300 million which was launched two years ago which aims “to ensure Bahrain’s food security and promote the agribusiness sector.”

“It is totally revolting that our lands are being devoted for the food security needs of other nations while the Filipino farmers suffer increasing landlessness, hunger, and poverty,” says Ramos.

Ramos vented his ire on Dr. Amable R. Aguiluz V who serves as the Aquino government’s Special Envoy to the Gulf Cooperation Council, and whose family owns the AMA Group Holdings that established a joint venture called “RP Harvest” with Bahrain’s Hassan Group, to cultivate bananas, rice and other crops on a 10,000-hectare land in the province of Davao Del Norte in Mindanao.

“This so-called joint venture smacks of land-grabbing and conflict of interest on the part of President Aquino’s political lieutenant in the Gulf,” Ramos said.

“Ambassador Aguiluz, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Agrarian Reform have a lot of explaining to do on this massive sell-out of our lands. A no-holds-barred probe on Aguiluz is in order,” Ramos stressed.

“Obviously, this irresponsible and massive sell-out of our lands to foreigners is being done by the country’s political ambassadors with the blessings of the landlord President,” the peasant leader said.

Ramos warned that “the country’s so-called joint venture with Bahrain is bound to displace thousands of farmers in the Davao region.”

“The Aquino government’s sell-out of our lands will surely fuel agrarian unrest and face intense resistance from farmers in the Davao region,” the KMP leader warned.

Now there might be three initiatives on the ballot at the same time all wanting to fuck over those who dare create jobs and wealth. The proponents of two other proposed tax initiatives pledged that they will have enough money to get their initiatives on the ballot and declined to back down despite entreaties from the Socialist governor.

Molly Munger, a wealthy attorney and civil rights advocate from Los Angeles, outlined her proposal in Sacramento to a supportive crowd at a statewide meeting of the California Parent Teacher Association. The PTA helped draft the initiative, which would increase income taxes on a sliding scale and raise $10 billion annually for 12 years.

"We are going to get this on the ballot and we are going to win, because we're prepared to not only get it on the ballot, but be sure that it has a very strong campaign behind it," Munger told reporters after her speech reports Deseret News.

The political novice, who is the daughter of billionaire Berkshire Hathaway partner Charles Munger, a partner of Warren Buffett, said she is prepared to fund a multimillion-dollar signature-gathering campaign on her own. She already has contributed $800,000 to the initiative.

Also Monday, supporters of a so-called millionaires' tax said they were ready to hit the streets with a signature-gathering effort for their own proposal, which would raise income taxes on those who make more than $1 million a year.

But there is a small problem. The number of Californians with $500,000-plus annual incomes declined dramatically from 2007 to 2009 as the state's economy stagnated, leaving fewer to tax, the California Taxpayers Association points out in a compilation of data from the Franchise Tax Board.

The latest FTB statistical report covers the 2009 tax year, and Cal-Tax points out that it listed just 98,610 California tax returns with adjusted gross income of $500,000 or more, down nearly a third from the 146,221 in 2007. Data for 2010 are not yet available.

Bankrolling the project was Ballmer, Bill Gates, Sr., other fellow traveler Marxist businessmen, teacher's unions and public employee unions wanted to re-distribute the wealth of those making $200,000 or more from private bank accounts directly into union bank accounts.

The voters saw through the Bullshit shoveled by these Socialist clowns and defeated the tax 64% to 36%. Sure the income tax would "soak the rich" (those who create jobs) at first, but like all income taxes it would creep down to include the working class where most of the money is.

Barr’s favorability ratings are highest amongst Black, Hispanic and “Other” voters. That support translates into higher support, especially in the Hispanic voting population. Barr garners 7% of those voters, and even reaches into double digits, with 11% of the “other” vote, those who self-identify as something other than Black, White or Hispanic.

Perhaps the most important statistic is to be found deeper into the press release data, with the age break down. The survey showed that 19% of voters between 18 and 29 years of age would vote for Barr, while only 24% would choose Romney.

So here we are once again listening to the beating of the drums of war in the Persian Gulf.

To me these modern drums of war sound an awful lot like Sarajevo in the 1914 Austro-Hungarian Empire. A single spark in Sarajevo set off World War I, revolution in the Russian Empire, the British-French colonization of the Middle East, and tens of millions in civilian and military dead.

Unless cooler heads prevail, what might a spark in the Persian Gulf ignite? A pro-Iranian revolution in Pakistan and those nukes coming under the control of who knows who? A pro-Iranian revolution in the oil rich Gulf states? A pro-Iranian uprising in Iraq? The overthrow of the Saudi monarchy?

The one thing history teaches us is wars mostly end in ways no one could predict.

Cutting off their gasoline imports might be the only option, but would that provide the dreaded Sarajevo spark with China and Russia supporting Iran? What if Chinese ships escorted by the Chinese navy sailed into the Persian Gulf to dock in Iran? What then? There is no way to know.

IRAN - First of all let me say that the Iranian government is a bunch of crazy-ass bastards. But the historian in me knows the Islamic religious passion in the Muslim world is nothing new. No one needs a war. The West needs to do a lot more talking and more economic pressure.

But sometimes the paranoids are right and they really are after you. Iran has been attacked over and over again.

In the Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907 the Russian and British Empires carved up Iran between them without any thought about what the Iranian people wanted. In 1941 Britain and the USSR invaded Iran to gain control of the oil fields. They overthrew the Shah Reza Pahlavi and replaced him with a child puppet king. The Shah died while under arrest in British South Africa.

In 1953 to protect oil interests the British and American intelligence agencies overthrew the Iranian government and placed an absolute monarch on the throne. Then in 1980 Iraq invaded Iran in a long eight year war resulting in upwards of 1,000,000 dead.

Iran has the right to feel paranoid. The right to feel that atomic power might make their neighbors leave them alone. But their reckless talk about Israel and other neighbors just adds fuel to the fires of a new war. Plus fears are raised about the re-creation of a new Persian Empire. Nukes could do a lot to help create a greater Iran.

About the only answer I can see is to buy gold, food and ammo for your barbed wired compound.

The British Office of Fair Trading has run up a £38,000 food bill charged to the taxpayer, including £80 on a mean at raunchy American food chain Hooters.

In total, the Office of Fair Trading spent £572,458 from the public purse between 2009 and 2011.

The two-year bill included £90,000 on flights, £10,000 on stays at five-star hotels, and even £500 on jewelry in Liverpool and £440 for a training course reports the UK Daily Mail.

Bosses at the Government agency, which works to protect consumer rights, racked up the £80 taxpayer-funded bill at Hooters in Nottingham.

Officials at the agency also amassed bills over £1,000 charged to the taxpayers at high-end London restaurants as part of business lunches and meals hosted for delegates.

In the past two years the OFT spent £1,064.47 at Chez Gerrard in London, as well as a further £1,440 at Patterson's, another exclusive London restaurant.

OFT bosses also splashed out £100 on food at the Connaught Hotel in Mayfair, as well as £386.44 at Lutyens, near St Paul's in London, during a lunch for Japanese delegates hosted by the firm's boss John Fingleton.

Emma Boon, campaign director for the Taxpayers' Alliance, said: 'It's preposterous that staff at the quango in charge of ensuring we don't get ripped off have spent taxpayers' money in Hooters; it's an inappropriate venue in which to conduct business.

'The OFT needs to explain some of the more extravagant looking items on these bills, such as big lunches and five-star hotel stays, as some of this spending looks inappropriate.'

Santorum voted to expand centralized Federal power and create the Department of Homeland Security. He also voted to massively and un-constitutionally increase Federal power over local education with Bush's No Child Left Behind Act. Santorum also voted a huge increase entitlement spending with Bush's Medicare Drug Benefit. A small government Republican my ass.

Personally I have chosen to call myself a Constitutional Federalist after our Founding Fathers. But the libertarian movement has come to symbolize a small constitutional government movement in America. Santorum has strongly come out against libertarianism and individualism.

In June 2011, Santorum said he would continue to "fight very strongly against libertarian influence within the Republican party and the conservative movement."

In an NPR interview in the summer of 2005, Santorum discussed what he called the "libertarianish right," saying "they have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do. Government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulation low and that we shouldn't get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn't get involved in cultural issues, you know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world, and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can't go it alone. . . . "

Romney and Gingrich are not any better.

Speaker Gingrich never cut one single dollar out of the Federal budget. All he did was slow the rate of the growth of the budget. Not one government worker was laid off under Gingrich.

Mitt's Romney-care problem is well know. But to a degree I am willing to cut him some slack on that. With only 3 or 4 Republicans in Massachusetts the Democrat legislature could do whatever they wanted no matter what the governor would say. Still Mitt claimed it as his own and uses the 10th Amendment to defend his state's right to do it. So be it.

It is 100% certain that 2013 will see a Big Government President. At least with a Big Government Republican we might hold off total Socialism a couple more years . . . maybe.

The $1-billion Genesis Solar Energy Project being built in near Bylthe in California's Mojave Desert is in danger of cancellation by hand-wringing by liberal weenies.

The building of the project has been expedited by Democrats in the state and federal regulatory agencies because it is a government subsidized "politically correct" business. Meanwhile non-politically correct businesses face endless red tape, government regulations and high taxes for daring to try and create jobs and wealth.

Genesis had hoped to be among the first of 12 approved solar farms to start operating in Southern California deserts. The 250-megwatt plant, being built on federal Bureau of Land Management land 25 miles west of Blythe, is backed by an $825-million Department of Energy loan guarantee reports the Los Angeles Times.

But Liberals and Socialist (is there really any difference?) are out to delay or destroy the green solar project any way they can. They are using every trick in the book to prevent progress.

As if by "magic", and right on cue, a few desert kit foxes died of the first ever recorded cases in history of distemper among the animals.
Weenie "environmentalists" claim the poor foxes might be under stress.
And local Native Americans now claim a discovered bed of desert charcoal is possible evidence of an ancient Indian cremation site.

The bed of charcoal magically appeared at just the right moment. Remains are protected by the Federal Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. Eldred Enas, chairman of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, said in a letter to the federal government last month that the burned charcoal site is "too sacred to disturb."

Deana Clifford, state wildlife veterinarian for the California Department of Fish and Game, said she isn't certain the outbreak of distemper among the foxes is connected to Genesis, "but we know that habitat disturbance causes stress, and when animals succumb to stress they become more susceptible to disease."

In the meantime, work has been halted on 400 acres while state and federal archaeologists conduct a detailed assessment. . . . and we all know how fast government worker drones will conduct detailed assessment reports. Watching a glacier move is faster.

NextEra officials acknowledged that if they cannot meet time line power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas & Electric Co. the solar project will close down costing 800 construction jobs. If that were to happen, 80% of the project's outstanding loans would be covered by the federal government, and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. . . . translation - the taxpayers will be stuck with the fucking bill and there will still be no electric power.

BOTTOM LINE - Nothing gets done in America, and that is not an accident. The environmental movement has been captured by anti-progress Luddite Socialists who hate capitalism, progress and the comforts provided to people by modern technology.

Greece is a fairly poor nation. They cannot even pay their bills. They are bankrupt. So what do the bankers do? They keep getting Greece deeper and deeper in debt.

Now the European Union and the International Monetary Fund want to bailout Greece with another 130-billion-euro ($160.76 billion) package. The bailout really has little to do with Greece and a lot to do with bailing out politically connected bankers who would not recognize a good loan if it bit them on the ass.

Let the Banks Fail - Instead of using government power to grind the Greeks into ultra-poverty, let them go bankrupt. There is not enough money in the world to keep bailing out the Socialists of the world. If bankers do not know how to make good loans then how about following capitalism and let badly run banks fail. Use the banking laws to legally sieze the assets of bankrupt banks, sell off the good parts to the well run banks and then fire the asses of the fools making these endless bad loans. The 20th century spawned a unique combination of both art and literature in book form. At first it was called the comic book and was directed to young adults. That has evolved into the modern graphic novel directed mostly to adults.

In 1986 a graphic novel titled "Watchmen" broke the mold in story telling. Author Alan Moore created a sprawling, subversive doomsday tale of nuclear annihilation, a death wish, the nature of time and existence itself, murder, superheroes, alternate universes, philosophy, rape, vigilante psychopaths and death.

“Watchmen” was a seismic moment in comic-book history, in part because of the ambition of its story and its intricate tapestry — set in alternative history, the tale spanned decades and was both sci-fi mystery and a complex commentary on superhero lore.

The 416-page graphic novel has sold more than 2 million copies; it also made Time magazine’s 2005 list of “the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to the present.”

“For comic-book fans, it’s the masterpiece, the classic that defines what you can do in a comic book, and you go back to it at your own risk,” Zack Snyder, director of the “Watchmen” film.

DC Comics is going back to the universe of “Watchmen” this summer by launching seven new prequel series that will collectively be referred to as “Before Watchmen,” marking the first time that characters such as Doctor Manhattan, Rorschach and the Comedian have appeared anywhere in comics since the original 12-issue series, which in a single-volume collection became the bestselling graphic novel of all time reports the Los Angeles Times.

“The nature of the undertaking is going to polarize a lot of the readership,” said Darwyn Cooke, the Canadian writer-artist whose six-issue “Before Watchmen” title is called “Minutemen.” “I think a lot of people will be excited about this and there are a lot of people that will be dead against it.”

Cooke declined to reveal too much about that story, but he said that in going back to the original epic, he decided to push away from the bleak, dystopian aura of Moore’s tale for “Minutemen” which will be set in the 1940s and 1950s.

“My instincts tell me that I should be bringing what I’m capable of bringing to this party,” Cooke said. “There’s a part of the characters that is heroic or they wouldn’t be together in this way.

It will be interesting to see what the final product is. There is no real upside. It is like re-making the Wizard of Oz, Ben Hur or Casablanca. Everyone will be out to dump all over you.

The Age Old Superhero Myth

The myth of the Superhero is embedded deep in the psychology of man. There is a strong inner need for man to be greater than the greatest or to have someone come to your rescue in times of need. . . . . a Deus Ex Machina character if you will.

We see these characters going back thousands of years ago. Men with super powers, half Gods such as the invulnerable warrior Achilles, the super strong Hercules or Thor the God of Thunder. Then there were the great mortal warriors such as Sinbad and Jason and his Argonauts. All had fantastic adventures going to magical places, meeting monsters, and encountering supernatural phenomena.

Always in the center was the eternal battle of good vs. evil.

The 1930s saw an explosion of the Superhero Myth.

The 20th Century - The 20th century saw a major revival of the superhero in literature. Edgar Rice Burroughs created characters such as Tarzan and John Carter of Mars. Robert E. Howard brought fans Conan and Solomon Kane.

Then comes the 1930s explosion with Superman, Batman, the Phantom, the Shadow and more.

The universe of Science Fiction and their Superhero characters keeps growing by the decade both in film and in print. The last forty years has seen an amazing variety of mutants, aliens, zombies, vampires and costumed avengers of every type. But most important, the more powerful the "Evil" character is, the "Good" character must be even stronger. Good must win in the end. It is all a morality tale.

Many of you may be fans of Batman or the X-Men and not be familiar with the Watchmen. That would be a mistake.

Unlike 99% of all books and movies made, the Watchmen requires the reader or viewer to THINK. That is not easy in this "modern" age of illiterate high school graduates, MTV, Twitter and brain-dead cable TV crap like Hillbilly Hand Fishin'. But for the minority out there with reasonable cognitive ability the Watchmen is a story that will pay off for you.

A Chinese court has sentenced a veteran dissident to seven years in jail, his son said.

Zhu Yufu was jailed for "inciting subversion of state power" by a court in Hangzhou, eastern China, after a trial hearing on 31 January when prosecutors cited a poem and messages he had sent on the internet, his son Zhu Ang told Reuters.

The poem said: "It's time, Chinese people! It's time. The Square belongs to all." References to a "square" might evoke memories among many Chinese people of Tiananmen Square in Beijing, though the poem did not mention it or the 1989 pro-democracy protests.

Prosecutors also cited text messages that he sent using Skype.

"The court verdict said this was a serious crime that deserved stern punishment," said Zhu Ang, 31, who said he was allowed to attend the court hearing with his mother. "Now my mother is terribly upset, even if we saw this coming."

He said the verdict cited his father's online calls for mobilization in the name of democracy.

The sentencing of Zhu followed the jailing of two other Chinese dissidents in December who received prison terms of 10 and nine years on subversion charges. Such charges are often used to punish ardent advocates of democratic change.

The government authorities and five of the nation’s biggest banks announced that they have cut a phony "deal" regarding the countless billions of dollars in crooked home loans that brought the economy to it's knees and caused millions of home foreclosures.

The government and banks agreed to a tiny $26 billion settlement that would look good on the TV evening news. No reporter was bright enough to point out that the banks are paying the "fines" with billions being given to them by the government and the Federal Reserve.

To bottom line it, there would be no out of pocket cost to the banks. . . no one goes to jail for loan fraud . . . and everyone can pretend for TV that they are helping homeowners down on their luck.

Crony-Capitalism

Follow the money trail.

Step #1) The Feds give the banks billions in tax dollars or phony Monopoly money freshly printed by the Federal Reserve to cover their business losses, pay any fines and help in home loan modifications.

Step #2) The government money used for home loan modifications and short pays is effectively "laundered" through the homeowner to make the government and banks look better on the evening news. In reality, the money is given to cover the business losses of the banks. Statistics show that most homeowners who do the loan modifications end up in foreclosure anyway.

Step #3) The bank then goes on it's merry way with buckets of government money and not one crooked bastard at the bank is charged with any loan fraud crime.

Homeowners are at fault. Let's face it, no one put a gun to a home buyer's head and made him buy an overpriced house with a crooked loan he knew he could not afford. People were greedy and/or fucking stupid not to know what they were signing.

You are responsible for your own actions. . . . unless you live in the new United Socialist States of America. Under American Socialism you don't have to worry.

The government will bail you out (with other people's money) if your industry has bribed enough Congressmen. If you are a little guy there are billions in printing press money floating around to lower your house payment or bail you out of your bad financial decisions. Only idiots pay their bills.

Here are samples of the free goodies the Feds are giving out:

For California, which has the highest number of properties in the foreclosure pipeline, banks agreed to pay $12 billion to help 250,000 homeowners with principal reductions or short sales, when a lender agrees to a sale for less than owed on the home.
Borrowers in Florida, the state with the second-most foreclosures, will receive an estimated $7.6 billion in benefits from loan modifications, including principal reduction.
Home owners in trouble will cash in and get as much as $35,000 in “relocation” incentives. Translation - owners are being paid money to move out of their own home. (Bloomberg News)

Under the plan, federal officials said, about $5 billion would be cash payments to states and federal authorities, $17 billion would be earmarked for homeowner relief, roughly $3 billion would go for refinancing and a final $1 billion would be paid to the Federal Housing Administration. If nine other major mortgage servicers join the pact, a possibility that is now under discussion with the government, the total package could rise to $30 billion.

The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is trying to "extort", I mean ask for, $500 million for healthcare, social services and child rehabilitation from beer companies through a lawsuit.

The tribe is blaming the beer companies for all their social troubles. Personal responsibility no longer exists in America. Nothing is ever your fault. The other guy made you do it. The theory is McDonalds makes you fat, not your personal choice to pork down four Big Macs at one sitting.

The lawsuit, filed in the district court of Nebraska, targets Anheuser-Busch InBev Worldwide, SAB Miller, Molson Coors Brewing Company, MillerCoors LLC, and Pabst Brewing Company.

The lawsuit alleges that beer makers and the shop owners knew the alcohol would be smuggled into the reservation for consumption or resale.

The legal documents allege: "The illegal sale and trade in alcohol in Whiteclay is open, notorious and well documented by news reports, legislative hearings, movies, public protests and law enforcement activities."

In a totally stupid statement, Tom White, the lawyer representing the tribe, told the Associated Press news agency: "You cannot sell 4.9 million 12oz cans of beer and wash your hands like Pontius Pilate, and say we've got nothing to do with it being smuggled."

The reservation, which is about the size of the state of Connecticut, includes Shannon County, the third poorest county in the US.

The median income in the area is $27,300 and almost half of the population is considered to be living below federal poverty standards.

The life expectancy in the community is between 45 and 52 years - the lowest in North America except Haiti - and far below the national average of 77.5 years.

Nebraska State Senator LeRoy Louden has said that after struggling with the problem for years, the state has introduced legislation that would impose restrictions - on the types of alcohol that can be sold and business hours.

A flyer aimed at Military Surplus stores produced under the auspices of the FBI’s Communities Against Terrorism project, encourages owners to report people who “make bulk purchases of items to include….meals ready to eat”.

According to the flyer, the FBI advises store owners to demand ID’s from all new customers, as well as asking them questions about their purchase and being aware of “suspicious statements”.

The flyer also characterizes paying with cash or “demanding identity privacy” as an indication of terrorism.

The federal government has gone completely overboard and is now educating the public to report fellow Americans for engaging in mundane behavior performed by millions of people routinely.

This flyer is just one of 25 being provided to businesses from across the spectrum, everything from Internet Cafes to tattoo parlors. Yesterday we highlighted how paying for a cup of coffee with cash is also a potential indicator of terrorist activity in the eyes of the FBI.

As Reuters reported on Monday, authorities are now treating those who “believe the United States went bankrupt by going off the gold standard” as extremists who are a potential violent threat to law enforcement.

The federal government routinely characterizes mundane behavior as extremist activity or a potential indicator of terrorist intent. As part of its ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign, the Department of Homeland Security educates the public that generic activities performed by millions of people every day, including using a video camera, talking to police officers, wearing hoodies, driving vans, writing on a piece of paper, and using a cell phone recording application,” are potential signs of terrorist activity.

Privacy advocates say the measure will lead to widespread use of drones for electronic surveillance by police agencies across the country and eventually by private companies as well reports the Washington Times.

“There are serious policy questions on the horizon about privacy and surveillance, by both government agencies and commercial entities,” said Steven Aftergood, who heads the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists.

The agency projects that 30,000 drones could be in the nation’s skies by 2020.

The highest-profile use of drones by the United States has been in the CIA’s armed Predator-drone program, which targets al Qaeda terrorist leaders. But the vast majority of U.S. drone missions, even in war zones, are flown for surveillance.

The FAA has issued hundreds of certificates to police and other government agencies, and a handful to research institutions to allow them to fly drones of various kinds over the United States for particular missions.

The agency said it issued 313 certificates in 2011 and 295 of them were still active at the end of the year, but the FAA refuses to disclose which agencies have the certificates and what their purposes are.

The GOP race took a turn for the good Tuesday . . . Super Newt, the ego driven and corrupt moron, was crushed in all three contests. The "great" Super Newt could not even manage to get on the ballot in Missouri where Rick Santorum crushed Mitt Romney with 55% of the vote.

Newt needs to slither right off the campaign field and go back down that influence peddling hole he crawled out of.

On the other hand, the crowning of Mitt Romney by the Media and Beltway Elites may have been put on a permanent hold. Santorum with little money just Bitch-Slapped Romney in three states. It is obvious that GOP voters are not very interested in the package Romney has to offer.

The race is wide open in a way I never would have suspected could happen.

Google bows to Internet Censorship in India

Muslims demanded that the government of India force Google to censor content. Google was "guilty" of daring to allow freedom of speech, letting people criticize Islam and the politicians of India.

Google becomes an agent for the Indian Government and removes "offensive" web-sites.

Indian government demanded that content be removed for "promoting enmity between classes and causing prejudice to national integration."
A government minister asked Google to pre-screen content considered politically or religiously offensive.
"Like China, we can block all such websites that don't comply."

Governments all over the world live in FEAR that people will be able to see and hear the truth about the world around them. The internet and freedom of information is being attacked everywhere.

Now the government of India is attacking the free flow of ideas and information. Google India has agreed to take down Web pages considered offensive by Indian political and religious leaders, stoking censorship fears in the world's largest democracy.

The removal order announced Monday resulted from a court case and follows weeks of aggressive government pressure on 22 Internet giants to remove photographs, videos or text considered "anti-religious" or "anti-social." Warning that their sites might be blocked "like in China," a New Delhi judge gave Facebook, Google and the other sites two weeks to present further plans for policing their networks, according to Indian press reports.

A Google representative, speaking on condition of anonymity, that while the company recently declined a request by a government minister to pre-screen content considered politically or religiously offensive, Google now faced a court order and had no choice but to follow it says the Mercury News.

Google would not release details about what content it had taken down or explain how it planned to respond to the government's demand for a self-policing action plan.

In India, officials have been incensed by material insulting to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, ruling Congress party leader Sonia Gandhi and religious groups, including illustrations showing Singh and Gandhi in compromising positions and pigs running through Mecca, Islam's holiest city.

The government has warned it has evidence to prosecute the sites for offenses of "promoting enmity between classes and causing prejudice to national integration."

According to press reports, Justice Suresh Kait told lawyers from Facebook India and Google that "if a contraband is found in your house, it is your liability to take action against it. Like China, we can block all such websites" that don't comply.

Prosecutors, who sued on behalf of a Muslim religious leader who accused companies of hosting pages that disparage Islam, said they would provide the companies with all relevant documents. The court gave the companies 15 more days to report back.

The movie depicts a dystopian future society in which population and the consumption of resources are managed and maintained in equilibrium by simply killing everyone who reaches the age of thirty. The Orwellian government would place an identification disc in the hands of the people. When it turned from the color green to red they were killed.

Over 110 million Indians have reported to data-processing centers across the country to have their irises scanned and their fingerprints recorded.

The Home Ministry collects not only fingerprints and scans irises, but also collects sensitive information such as caste and religion, which it wants to use for "security purposes".

Once again Hollywood and Science Fiction comes to life as a Big Brother government policy. This time it is a plan to provide each of India's 1.2 billion citizens with a unique Orwellian identification number to impose some efficiency on India's inept bureaucracy.

Since the plan was launched in mid-2010, about 110 million Indians have been ordered to report to data-processing centers across the country to have their irises scanned and their fingerprints recorded.

The unique identification (UID) number that arrives in the mail a couple of months later can then be used to apply for welfare benefits and set up a bank account.

A rival program from the Home Ministry collects not only fingerprints and irises, but also sensitive information such as caste and religion, which it wants to use for security purposes. The Home Ministry, since it has only registered about 8 million citizens on its National Population Register (NPR).

The 1984 paranoia is not entirely misplaced. The NPR emerged out of a scheme in the early 1990s to identify illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. More than 40,000 Bengali-speakers were later deported within a three-year period.

Many fear that the new data will be similarly used by parties - such as the ultra-right-wing Shiv Sena in Mumbai - that want to identify and remove migrant laborers from other states.

Identity Theft - "All it would take to steal someone's biometric identity is a photograph taken with a high-resolution camera or a fingerprint off a glass," said Sunil Abraham, of the Center for internet and Security in Bangalore.

"And once your biometric identity has been compromised, there is no way of re-securing it without surgery."

He points to the recent incident in which several thousand Israeli biometric identities were leaked on to the internet by Saudi hackers. Stolen identities could be used to frame individuals for crimes or set up bank accounts for money laundering.

"I can see a situation in which a black market for biometric identities emerges," said Mr Abraham.
